Sunflower Bean unleash psych-punk goodness in new single "I Hear Voices"
Those lucky enough to be at this year's The Great Escape may have also been lucky enough to see Sunflower Bean in action. The Brooklyn trio were received with rave reviews and with such palpable energy in "I Hear Voices" it's not hard to imagine why.
Opening with the kind of cocksure riff that got teens hot under the collar in the mid-nineties, "I Hear Voices" soon evolves into an entirely different beast; one that carries the wall of psychedelic noise and rhythmic urgency Hookworms market so well. But this is a sweeter affair, punctuated by Julia Cumming's angelic harmonies, and one that plays out with much sharper clarity.
Bravo, Sunflower Bean, this is truly exciting stuff.
"I Hear Voices" is released on 24 July via Fat Possum.
