SOTD #147 // The Duke Spirit: ‘Everybody’s Under Your Spell’

Something new from The Duke Spirit? Well don’t mind if I do….’Everybody’s Under Your Spell’ is sexy stuff indeed – a rush of blood to the musical erogenous zones that’ll leave you headspun; equal parts queasy and dumbly grinning.
As usual, singer Liela Moss is all attitude and ballast but with a new urgency and cutting thrust to her voice. “I could pin a medal on you”, she thunders, alongside a rearing guitar that’s as violent as it is precise. Like all the best songs, it comes in at around three and a half minutes of tumble and tussle before it’s all over – a beautiful portent of good things to come from the forthcoming Kusama EP – and eventual third album.
