The name Delorean will, for many, conjure up images of the 80’s and one would assume a band named after the ill-fated car manufacturer would make 80’s throw-back music. Thankfully, this is not the case. Instead what we have here is a Spanish group on the cusp of being the soundtrack to summer 2010 with their original spin on the indie dance tune. Song of the Day ‘Stay Close’ demonstrates this, giving us something to listen to while we enjoy the only month we’ll probably get sun this year.
If you like floor filling hooks then you are spoilt for choice. The euphoric looping female vocal, combined with colourful synth arrays, dreamy male vocals and delightful symbol crashes automatically take you to an Ibizan beach at dusk. With a multitude of bands such as Neon Indian, Toro Y Mori, Washed Out and Memory Tapes already proving to be popular dance floor fodder, summer 2010 could be dominated by the indie dance tune. With their new album Subiza already gaining momentum, I predict you will be hearing a lot more of Delorean in the ensuing months. Weather permitting, of course.
