Listen: Shura – “Touch” (Delorean remix)
Like all good remixes, the core of the original remains intact but is cleverly embellished. Step forward Delorean’s remix of London-based/Russia-born newbie Shura and her unbearably catchy debut, “Touch”.
What perhaps makes Shura’s original resonate so well is its candid lyricism and relatable, emotional tug – where “All I wanna do is go home with you but I know I’m out of mind/I want to touch you but I’m too late” is exhaled over gorgeous funk ripples, cuddly synths and laid-back beats. On the remix, Spanish lot Delorean pick up bedroom romance and transport it to Balearic shores, replete with a teasing break-beat and otherworldy synth rushes.
The remix does nothing to detract from the stunning original cut but works to put Shura on the pedestal she deserves, if only by way of a collaborative hand.
