Manchester’s SHINIES had us reeling last year with that memorable Pat Sharp-starring video for ‘Ennui‘ that nearly broke the internet.
‘Taste’ finds the four-piece making a strident step forward musically. The lead track from their debut EP Tangle, it’s got the Rory Attwell finish and was recorded by MJ from Hookworms.
Also, it’s brilliant: four minutes of coordinated, chaotic, melodic noise cut through with a rumbling guitar shimmer.
The band’s lo-fi ambience and energy continues to grow along with a songwriting skill that references some of the left-field greats of the last three decades.
The four track Tangle EP is released on 12 August via Dirty Bingo Records.
