Listen: Seinabo Sey - "Hard Time"
At the back end of last year Seinabo Sey appeared with the brilliantly soulful, “Younger”, and it was immediately clear that we were dealing with another incredibly exciting Swedish export. Now she has returned, and this latest effort further showcases her potential to take the world by storm.
Teaming up again with uber-producer Magnus Lidehäll (Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Sky Ferreira), the young Stockholm-native continues to set herself apart from her peers in this new song, Her powerfully characteristic voice chants away above military percussion and dark, brooding chord progressions, while the introduction of eerie backing vocals and a hugely motivational break-down provides the final kick in the stomach.
Having premiered last night as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’ on BBC Radio One, stream the massively punchy “Hard Time” below and give a rousing fist pump to the brilliant Seinabo Sey.
“Hard Time” is released in Scandinavia on 14 May and in the UK on 30 June (pre-order here).
