Sambassadeur are back. Responsible for one of the truly great indie-pop singles of the past decade (‘Final Say’, if you were wondering), the quartet return with ‘Memories,’ the first single to be lifted off their as-yet untitled fourth album which is due out next year.
In typical Sambassadeur style, the group adopt an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to their craft. Though this is far from a criticism; whether embracing Factory-esque rhythms on 2007′s Migration, the sweeping love-lorn strings on 2010′s European or the cheeky brass present here on ‘Memories’, a true sense of playfulness shot through wistful melancholy always prevails. An oft overlooked Swedish gem buried beneath the insular hipster Gothenburg scene.
‘Memories’ is released on limited edition 7″ via Labrador on November 20. Pick up a copy here.
