Listen: Rolls Bayce - "On My Own" [Premiere]
Australian trio Rolls Bayce drop an untroubled, free-floating piece of sunny psych-pop in new cut, "On My Own".
Opening with laid-back 60's groove and flowery guitar lines, "On My Own" makes no bones about the band's influences (Led Zeppelin, 60-70s soul and RnB). It's much lighter than Led Zep's brand of heavy rock, mind, with the sound more akin to fellow Oz lot Tame Impala's harmony-ridden pleasantries. The Brisbane trio also have to be applauded for writing one of the biggest earworms in recent memory with "tried to be on my own" offering no cerebral escape route.
"On My Own" is sophisticated, cool and mightily impressive for a band with just two releases to their name. Onwards and upwards, we say.
