Oldermost brace for change with panoramic Americana anthem "Finally Unsure"
"For creatures that have benefited so much from evolution, we - humans - tend to resist change. What would it be like if the most romantic thing you could say was not don't change but please change, remain unfinished, reside in a state of constant revision, dwell in possibility?" This is Oldermost's statement of intent. And they match it with their music.
The Philadelphia band's latest track, "Finally Unsure", embodies many of the emotions associated with change - the trepidation, the excitement, the reward - propelled by a driving, motorik-inspired beat that hits harder as the fear is overcome.
Chiming guitars reverberate across layers of organ-style synths and bright acoustics as singer Bradford Bucknum's drawl extends far beyond the track's sustained notes. The War on Drugs may well be the obvious, if a little crude, comparison, but their guitarist did play on “Eyes To The Wind” after all...
"'Finally Unsure' is not a song about losing your keys and being locked-out, it's a song about when the keys that are already in your possession don't open the door to your home anymore," Bucknum adds.
It's a refreshing possibility, and Oldermost certainly put us on the path to believing change is a good thing.
