Norway's Hanne Mjøen pines for thrills on candy-coated pop belter "Vanilla"
Oslo-based synthpop riser Hanne Mjøen has unveiled "Vanilla", a muscular electro jam with a summer-ready chorus.
Mjøen melts the glacial pop vibes fellow Nordic names do so well, with sweet and addictive vocals washing against balmy tropicalia to create something that begs for beaches and sun-smooched boulevards.
"'Vanilla' is in many ways a synonym for something ordinary and boring," Mjøen says, "So the song is really about wishing for more of what's good and exciting."
Mjøen co-wrote and produced the song with Elsa Søllesvik (Elsa and Emilie), Sebastian "ÅSN" Aasen, and Jim Bergsted. It follows November's earworm-infested tune "Future" and a collab with Russian twosome Matisse and Sadko.
