Philippines-based artist No Rome has been quietly releasing some rather weird and wonderful electronica on his Soundcloud for the past two years, but latest cut “Heaven” is his most assured and mature cut to date.
Flourished with looped samples and zither-like quibbles, “Heaven” doesn’t see much progression over its relatively short duration but revels in dense layers and chillwave beats.
The tone is one of sheer contentment, though unfortunately the apparent inspiration comes from No Rome’s recent loss of loved ones. Oddly endearing and perfect for summery climes, “Heaven” is a musical nirvana we’ll be escaping to again.
