Milan Ring reflects on healing and freedom in R&B-tinged single "Hide With You"
Fast-rising Aussie artist Milan Ring weaves a rich tapestry of genres into a banner of hope with her new single “Hide With You”.
Oscillating between the roles of producer, mixer, writer, instrumentalist, and performer, Milan Ring is a multi-hyphenate in the finest form. Having collaborated with UK rapper Che Lingo for her first single of 2021, “BS”, now, she consolidates subtle rap verses and late-night R&B into a testament of vulnerability.
Effortlessly tranquil, “Hide With You” is a dazzling piano-led tune that revels in lyrical intimacy against laidback jazz intimacies. An ode to healing, Ring exports her feelings with a sultry touch whilst her expansive vocal propels to track to an operatic scale.
This warmth is replicated in the accompanying music video, created by Ring and her director-housemate Caitlin McCartney during Australia’s recent lockdown.
Resplendent in yellow and orange tones, Ring is framed by a spotlight as she looks straight at the camera under a draped backdrop, crooning, “he told me to step back but that wasn’t enough / it seems I was getting too rough”.
“”Hide With You” is about the search for freedom; hoping that one day, in the vastness of space & time, we find it together,” says Ring. “This is a song I hold very dear to my heart and has provided great healing for me. I hope that it may do the same for others also.”
