Never, the third album from Micachu & The Shapes, looks set to be one of the most exciting records of the year. The frighteningly youthful London band have been quiet since the release of 2010′s Chopped & Screwed, with Micachu taking on production and writing roles with a range of other musical eccentrics. Now, though, the trio are finally preparing for the release of another collection of pop sideswipes.
‘OK’ has been a clear highlight from Micachu’s live set – a lilting, stop-start song reminiscent of a playground chant. On record, though, the track takes on new life, full of Heath Robinson percussion and quick-march momentum. A promising omen for the band’s return.
Never is out 23 July on Rough Trade. Download ‘OK’ below.
