LVRA channels hope and contentment on “Girl Like Me”
LVRA’s newest release is her strongest to date, and the glorious “Girl Like Me” manages to lift us out of our quarantine blues.
LVRA comfortably guides us through the emotions of being content in love on “Girl Like Me”, channelling the kind of hope that has us believing we might make it outside for spring this year.
Flowery piano floats in and out of meandering synths as 20-year-old Rachel Lu’s vocals shine over another one of her home-crafted, alternative-pop/R&B hybrid creations. Seasoned with subdued percussion, the track shows off LVRA’s impressive production skills that exceed beyond the four walls of the bedroom it was created in.
With lyrical maturity beyond her years, LVRA shares: “It’s the first song I’ve written that’s come from pure happiness,” she says. “I was at a point when I was happier than ever – I was super independent and focusing on my friends, and studying and making music. I didn’t think it was possible for me to want something more, because I never felt like anything was missing from my life. Turns out being in love when you’re truly happy feels ways better.”
