Listen: Luke Sital-Singh – Nothing Stays The Same [Premiere]
Putting his raw melancholia to one side, Luke Sital-Singh returns with an anthemic new single, nodding to the singalong successes of fellow British powerhouses.
Given its first play by Radio One’s new music champion Huw Stephens last night, the North Londoner has embraced a bigger, more immediate sound; a crescendo of thick, layered vocals and pounding drums drive the action forward from its bare beginnings to a foray of almost gospel climax.
It’s undoubtedly a new and uplifting direction for the singer-songwriter, who is audibly drawing on inspiration from the likes of, dare I say it, Mumford & Sons and Coldplay to concoct readymade festival hits.
It may be true that ‘Nothing Stays The Same’ but Sital-Singh retains the uncanny knack for a memorable chorus, and this is his most memorable yet.
Luke’s new EP Tornados, his first on Parlophone, is out 3 November.
