Listen: Leo Kalyan - "Full Circle"
Mysterious UK singer-producer Leo Kalyan has been pumping out amazingly smooth tracks like some sort of R&B silk factory all year. Having worked with the likes of Karma Kid and MNEK, things have just gone from strength to strength for him. Now, to close out the year, Kalyan has teamed up with Grades to produce yet another wonderfully addictive track in "Full Circle".
Grades' production gives the track a real ethereal quality as the synths glide and soft drum pad beats pop. Throwing in samples of bird calls and eagle cries gives the sense of flying through a perfectly blue sky as beautiful city scapes pass by underneath. It's a gorgeous piece of simple production that stands in its own right but also lets Kalyan's vocals, where the real treat lies, take centre stage.
His voice is so smooth that it seems to pour into your ears like honey. It's so soulful and warm and just instantly captivating. His seductive croon has become one of the stand-out parts of every one of his tracks so far, and it's none more clear as to why than on 'Full Circle'.
Of the track, Kalyan said, "When writing 'Full Circle' I was exploring the idea that everything eventually circles round to where it began. Sometimes that's a good place, sometimes not - but for me, it's the journey & the experience that counts."
