With Kaleida making their first mark a few weeks back when they released the title track off their first EP, “Think”, things already sounded promising. Now they have two singles under their belt, this time “Tropea”, named after the beautiful Italian coastal town known for its really good red onions, shows the London based synth pop pair have definitely got more in them.
Everything here is so simple yet verging on the anthemic; a step up from “Think” while still retaining that minimalist feel that made it such a great introduction to Cicely Goulder and Christina Wood. Wood’s breathy, chilly vocals sit atop Goulder’s glittering synths which have the feel of a retro style with a more modern undertone creating a beautifully simple pop soundscape. It’s a dreamily cold tune, ironic given the location of Tropea, and undeniably sexy.
