LA's Alek Fin and Russian beatboxer Galun air brooding electronic cut "lonosphere"
Los Angeles soloist Alek Fin and Moscow-based producer Galun haven't let distance get in the way of making music together. Following on from their song collaboration "Golden, Blinding", the pair connect across the globe again for unnerving new track, "lonosphere".
The duo may as well be in the same room, for "lonosphere" embodies all the intricacy of late nights spent together in the mix.
Fin's celestial vocals provide the perfect counter to Galun's propulsive beats and heavy-duty, techno-influenced subs. The song's subtle, ghostly vocal sample and dreamy synth recesses act as a glue to bind the highs with the lows over six minutes of bewitching electronic bliss.
"'Ionosphere' is about the polarising dynamics in relationships, seeing the best and worst parts of the one you love and the pursuit to embrace them all," Adam (Alek Fin) says.
"The writing process happened quickly on this one. Galun sent over the original sketch. I was really drawn to the airy, haunting vocal sample and percussion that became the center piece for the verses. We had a draft within a week."
"lonosphere" is taken from the duo's Strannik EP, set for release on 27 May.
