Listen: Kinky Love - "Counting On Distance"
Kinky Love…oh how apropos given the big silver screen seller at the box office these days. Look, how ‘bout pass on the fifty shades of bollocks – yes, even though it has your beloved Jamie Dornan in it – and partake in this Chicago synthpop trio’s latest hot under the collar number.
Tantalising frontwoman Xoe Wise is front and centre on “Counting On Distance”, displaying her undeniable soul chops over nary more than itchy, hip-scooting percussion punctuated by intermittent synth pulses. Come mid tune, Wise becomes positively sultry, her breathy murmurs downright titillating, hot and steamy on the back of your neck.
Coming off the heels of last year’s Promise EP and a subsequent pair of singles, the insistent “Hush” and the sweetly slow boiling “Sugar”, “Counting On Distance” continues the trio’s winning streak headed into their next EP due out this May.
“It’s hard to ignore our chemistry”, proclaims Wise. Uh huh….uh huh….
