Record Store Day is fast becoming one of the most significant fixtures in the musical year. At just five years old it has ensconced itself firmly at the vanguard of independent music.
One of the best things about RSD is the wealth of exclusive new tracks on offer. Domino, one of the country’s most important independent labels, has just released a sampler containing some of the tracks it will be releasing on 21 April, the standout from which is a newish song from King Creosote & Jon Hopkins. ‘Third Swan’ is more urgent than much of Diamond Mine with King Creosote scoffing at the idea of old age, insisting that he would prefer to “die whilst I am alive.” It’s as bracing and as unsettling as we’ve come to expect from the Mercury-nod recipients.
‘Third Swan’ will be out on limited edition 7″ on 21 April.
