Where have all the gentlemen gone? Is chivalrous, honourable behaviour a thing of the past? Should we mourn the loss of the gentleman, or is he an anachronism? Does the gentlemanly trope actually reinforce dangerous and outmoded gender stereotypes?
Jensen Sportag don’t give a fuck. They just make gloriously strung out, unashamedly heartwrenching massive pop songs. ’Gentle Man’ is pitched perfectly in the middle of the hitherto uncharted territory equidistant between Justin Timberlake and Karin Andersson. It is, essentially, the soundtrack to the best late ’80s film never made – teetering on the line that separates ‘brilliant’ from ‘comical’, but always remaining just about on the right side.
