Jaune warps reality on kinetic synthpop single "Procession"
"Procession", the latest single/video from Jaune - aka Jean Thevenin - is our Song Of The Day.
It's a dazzling track with echoes of Iberian synthpop (e.g. El Guincho) that features big moments of surreal disconnection. There's something mystical, something deliriously off-kilter about "Procession" that makes Jaune sound like he's not quite in the same world as the rest of us.
Describing his solo material in a recent interview, Thevenin said (in French): "I find it hard to precisely define my music, saying it revolves around the rhythm. I'm looking in the organic electronics and I sing in French."
"Procession" was recorded and mixed by Guillaume Jaoul at Tropicalia Studio. Its video was shot in Buenos Aires, the Argentinian capital, and is by Thevenin himself. When not working on his solo material, Thevenin also plays with Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains.
Jaune's debut EP is expected in November.
