Listen: J. Tropic x Alyss - "September" (Earth, Wind and Fire cover)
J. Tropic is the gift that keeps on giving. Paired with the beautiful vocals delivered by Alyss, who featured on J. Tropic’s debut EP, this dualistic combination is a refreshing creative force that mixes cushiony RnB with colourful dance.
The producer has unveiled his latest exercise in lush music production, of course voiced by Alyss, and it's a perfectly-rendered cover of Earth Wind and Fire’s “September”. An odd choice - but we love it.
The track almost completely leans on pure RnB, tropicalised by tinkling and pizzicato-esque synths and keys. No sign of dance can be seen in this version, taking an instead more laid back approach supported by Alyss’ husky and controlled delivery. Her vocal strength is magnificently exposed by her multiple vocal tracks and harmonisations.
"September" is bound to awaken those dwindling end-of-summer love stories: plug in.
