GRACEY continues her alt-pop ascent with sad-banger “Don’t”
22-year-old Polydor signee GRACEY's talent for pairing sky-high choruses with pensive alt-pop production is established yet again on her sad-banger of a new single, “Don’t”.
Are you firmly of the belief that few things in life are better than a sad song that you can dance to? If so, you’ll absolutely adore the new single from Brighton-hailing singer and songwriter GRACEY.
Arriving with the announcement of her forthcoming mini-album The Art Of Closure next month, “Don’t” is a contemporary screw-you anthem with a stunner of a chorus that’s a guaranteed earworm.
The track harks back to mellow pop templates in the vein of Robyn's early noughties output, while its lyrics manage to simultaneously explore the nuanced topic of power dynamics in relationships. “Don't” serve us with one of modern pop's best opening lines in “you don’t fuckin' want me, you’re just bored”.
The result? An infectious offering from a pop star whose unique brand of emotive lyricism and euphoric pop looks set to be the sound of 2021.
