Listen: Farewell J.R – “Slow Breath” [Premiere]
Cambridge-based ambient folk lot Farewell J.R present their stirring new single “Slow Breath”, premiering today on Best Fit.
Once a solo project of frontman Nick Rayner, Farewell J.R’s expanded lineup blends folk-tinged song structures with graceful ambient instrumentation. With magnificent strings and quietly dignified vocals, “Slow Breath” billows outward into an overwhelming wall of sound. Those who swoon at the bright, slow burn of Eluvium and Julianna Barwick’s work will find similar bliss here.
“Slow Breath” hints at an upcoming release from the band, which would follow 2013’s Health EP. Catch Farewell J.R live at Holy Trinity Church, Leeds on 7 March.
