Cascine sure do have not only impeccable taste but immaculate timing too. Quarterly, you can bet your one bedroom flat that the label will put out something to totally encapsulate and compliment the moods you’re feeling at that very moment in time. Back in the dark days of the wintery months, they provided us with the ice-cold chillness of Selebrities, and even their otherwise off-season recent output of Ditt Inre seemed to somehow foresee the storms we’ve been having lately. There’s something suspiciously faultless about them, alright. But at least they’re using their seeming omniscience for the greater musical good.
And now as summer approaches, you’d half expect Au Revoir Simone’s Erika Forster to consider changing her new pseudonym ever so slightly. This next track from the singer’s recent foray into the world as Erika Spring sees her conjuring up a little less dreamy but equally crisp pop gem. Brasher in production than her previous collective output and driven by some ringing synthlines and snares, ‘Hidden’ is undoubtedly something that will be soundtracking house parties set in crammed kitchen conservatories. Even if we have to throw the shindigs ourselves at Best Fit Towers.
