New Paris label Records Collection previews compilation with sultry Employee Of The Year remix
Records Collection may be a label in its infancy but the folks behind it are far from inexperienced, responsible as they are for Paris Music Week. Today we premiere a track from the label's forthcoming compilation: Finnish producer Eero Johannes' remix of French duo Employee Of The Year's song "I Don't Know".
There's nothing too remarkable about the remix - gloopy synths coat a jumpy house beat, complete with sensual male/female vocal interplay - but that's not totally the point. Records Collection is a music agency set on giving a platform to contemporary music they love.
"I Don't Know" is simple, sophisticated house music that may well backdrop many a summer party and beyond. Sometimes that's all you need: reliable, fun, upbeat dance pop that doesn't pretend to revolutionise.
Employee Of The Year had this to say: "This track is the second single taken from our new album coming October 2016. We really love what Eero Johannes has done with the song, taking the vocals and recreating the whole instrumental part.
"The original song is like a ballad and Eero went into the funk side, with Prince-like synths and beats...it sounds like a Brandy-Prince-Employee of The Year collab’!
We are really proud of the track and hope you will enjoy as much as we do."
