Carnivals – Absences // Song Of The Day #391 [Best Fit Premiere]
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, eh? Well, Sheffield producer/multi-instrumentalist Stewart Green (Carnivals if you want to get all formal, or Stew if you want to get a bit too personal) last put out a release 9 months ago and these 5mins 40sec of introspective electronica is his first since then.
Sadly he seemed to pass us by a little the first time round but with new track ‘Absences’ dropping right from the (Sound)clouds this morning, who needs months of longing eh?
‘Absences’ starts off a little subdued and hazy before kicking into full glitch lucidity around the halfway mark. The prime moment comes at 4:38mins, if you really want to skip ahead and spoil the surprise.
The song features on Carnivals’ new single, along with b-side ‘Ino (Parts 1 & 2)’. And because it’s a Tuesday, although be rest assured we’d be equally as generous no matter what the day, here’s some extra tracks to stream by Green’s last EP below. Or personal fave is jittery opener ‘I Can See’.
You can download the two-part single and nab the Mavi Kara EP for free all via Carnivals’ Bandcamp page.
