Listen: Candide - "Bit" [Premiere]
Berlin/Brooklyn duo Candide first appeared on these pages in January 2013. They’ve since emerged from the darkness of their early tracks with “BIT”, this time squinting into the bright light of day with pert and pretty funk-pop. The new single and video premiere today on Best Fit.
Having just moved back to Berlin from Brooklyn to work on new music and tour Europe, the pair seem to be experimenting with the scene change by swapping disco noir for disco funk and sunless sounds for sunlit scapes. Bursting with supple bass, kaleidoscopic synths and earworm melodies, “BIT” celebrates summer and acts like it’s far from over.
Candide said: “‘BIT’ is a surrealistic autobiographical dreamscape about life in the sticky, sweaty summer: ‘searching for the perfect beat in the city heat’”.
Don’t You Go EP is out now on Zappruder Records (stream/buy here).
Accompanying the single is a brand new video the band says “provides bit of solace during a fun, beachy getaway”. Watch below:
