Floating and delicate, "Rona" is a thing of endless wonder from Cal Raasay
"Rona" is a song that is deeply inspired by and enriched with the beauty of the Western Isles, and acts as much as a soothing experimental soundscape as a personal homage to the area.
Cal Raasay is a Northumbrian musician, producer and composer who is able to create expansive and epic soundscapes through his varied experimentation.
"Rona", the title track from his upcoming EP, is a soothing, soul-warming myriad of sonic soundscapes, holding a kind of mystic, otherworldly quality as it tumbles through gentle textures and sounds that have the power to transport you directly to the Isle of Raasay - the very place that holds an important place in the musician's heart.
"'Rona' came to me whilst sat on a pier on the Isle of Raasay, the whole concept of the song hit me in one go whilst staring out at the sea and isles," Says Cal Rasaay of the track's origins, explaining how the track is dedicated to this beautiful place. "This video for the title track came about from an exploratory trip to visually capture the feel of the Western Isles; to complement, and give an insight into, the sense of place and feel I strived to create in the song."
