After a summer spent taking in the sights and sounds of, er, Canada, Oh! Canada returns from our scouting mission refreshed and ready to present another bumper issue of Oh! Canada – our 18th edition, showcasing some of the many acts we discovered along the way.
The Pack AD are no strangers to the Oh! Canada playlists and their new album Unpersons is as good a reason as any to present them to you again. The snarl and promise of the Vancouver duo’s NXNE performance is more than delivered on with the heavy riffing ‘Sirens’. Also heavy on the riff are Toronto’s Biblical, whose ‘Oubliette’ gives more than a little nod to Rush and Yes along the way.
This month also sees selections from new albums from The Deep Dark Woods, Jon McKiel, Sandro Perri, Kathryn Calder, Ohbijou, Siskiyou, Dan Mangan and The Weather Station. There’s also the return of Memoryhouse with an extended version of the Years EP , a new project from Teen Daze based on ‘Out Of The Silent Planet’ by C.S. Lewis and Rich Aucoin’s riotous party pop sounds more anthemic by the day on ‘It’. We are also pleased to introduce you to Fond of Tigers, Muskox, Deloro, Trips and Falls, Doug Tielli and Resorts.
As ever, we hope that Oh! Canada introduces you to some new favourites and encourages you to click on the artist links to find out more about (and hear more tracks/order albums/heap praises upon) the artists who have made it possible.
