Best Fit Mix #6: George Maple

12 July 2013, 12:25 | Written by Rich Thane

A favourite here at Best Fit since we first heard her soulful croon feature on Flume’s ‘Bring You Down’, Australian born / London based songwriter George Maple has continued to remain on the lips of tipsters with a handful of impressive tracks.

‘On and On’, her collaboration with production duo Snakehips epitomises a lazy summer’s night, whilst debut single ‘Fixed’ pitched Maple as a very natural successor to Jessie Ware’s reign as the Queen of UK soul.

Exclusively curated for Best Fit, today’s mixtape takes a snapshot of George Maple’s current headspace. A scattershot of ideas and influences spliced with the odd snippet of brand new and unheard material.

“I heart clever beats, wonky synths, a little syncopation and epic vocals at the moment, this tape is my brain on shuffle.”

“These songs each mean something to me personally or creatively…even if they’re just there to me keep calm and carry on when logic crashes and erases ‘that sax solo’.
