YOWL unleash the explosive energy of "Warm (in the Soft White Fire of Modern Living)"
In just over three and a half minutes, the Peckham five-piece perfectly capture anger, cynicism and hilarity in one fell swoop.
With razor-sharp observations and lyrical agility, YOWL's latest track is another thunderous, if not poetic, middle finger, poking fun at the mundane and miserable aspects of modern life whilst still making a point.
Frontman Gabriel Byrde has an impressive ability to deliver lyrics in a way that perfectly grasps the underlying rage that blazes through the crashing guitars. Yet there is also an inherent dry wit that carries through lyrics such as "Only when you fill my head with a pile of Alfred Hitchcock's pornos / And I'll watch them til I wake when I remember that he never filmed a porno in his life and now I hate him for it".
The single comes after the success of "Dark Room" and a tour with label mates LICE. "Warm (in the Soft White Fire of Modern Living)" firmly cements YOWL's position as masters of articulating the frustration of modern life in all its grey, sad beauty.
