Johnny Castro, one half of Aussie hitmakers Parachute Youth, has started a brand new electro-funk solo project, Yeah Boy.
Aided on songwriting duties by fellow Putney resident Stefan Abingdon, Yeah Boy is putting out his debut track, ‘Can’t Get Enough’ on 6 October via Baked Goods. Liberal use of squwaking vocal samples, bouncy guitar figures and relaxed beats compliment Castro’s caramel-sweet verses perfectly, while the wispy chorus, ‘I can’t get enough, get enough, baby I got to stop’, is punctuated by a classy-as-you-like piano riff. Solid, appealing synthpop with a fragrant funk twist. Dig in.
