Production duo WITHOUT enlist Swedish vocalist Essie for bouncing '90s R&B track "Love Liike This"
UK production duo and frequent Mura Masa collaborators WITHOUT are back with a brand new - and terrific - single.
Oliver Smith and Luke Vidamour have been making music together for a while, often in a house on Guernsey, and on "Love Liike This" they've perhaps made their best track so far.
With the help of Swedish singer Essie's joyfully soulful voice, WITHOUT take the springy percussion of Disclosure and drop in sweet R&B grooves, '80s Janet Jackson drum fills and sugary blasts of synth brass to make something approaching a celebration of new found love.
"We were listening to a lot of funk at the time, guys like Herbie Hancock and Carl Carlton," explain WITHOUT. "When writing we also found ourselves putting on a load of 90’s R&B girl groups just for fun, the melodies are so infectious. Those references just naturally found their way into this track and were a perfect spin on our usual style of beat-making."
