Weyes Blood will make your skin tingle with "Do You Need My Love"
Putting an environmental spin on the classic love story theme, Natalie Mering aka Weyes Blood delivers a six-minute orchestral folk jewel.
With a beat evoking a nostalgic military march, the track doses out rich instrumentation and ethereal sounds to perfection before ending gloriously with an endless echo of choral harmonies.
With lyrics as layered as the arrangement, the song can be read as a hopeless love letter to our planet. Describing the track, Mering says:
"Should we love the earth? Are our environmentalist movements, our too-late realizations, nothing but hubris in the face of a planet that, though it created us, feels nothing, can feel nothing, in return? The earth here is a cold, beautiful thing, a lover that neither recognizes us nor truly cares to hold us close; it does not need us like we need it."
Weyes Blood’s third LP Front Row Seat To Earth comes out 21 October 2016 via Mexican Summer.
