West London's Lava La Rue finds nostalgic rap vibe on new track "Widdit"

At just 20, Lava La Rue is breaking through the waves of London's rap scene as she finds a more sentimental streak that shows her attention and observation to old school hip hop.

"Widdit" is built on a base of soft keys, allowing the alluring voice of Lava La Rue to mesmerise with her elegant flow.

Shot between her time living in Tokyo and visiting New York, the music video, recorded on VHS, highlights the West London rapper's dedication to pursuing a nostalgic, hip hop infused sound.

Weaving effortlessly between flow changes, Lava La Rue is only adding to her sublime portfolio.

Speaking about the new track, she explained, "the producer of the track (Disk) discovered me on his recommendations and it so happened he was living in the same area I was staying- he's part of a collective "Tokyo vitamin" who's founder (Kento) shot me on VHS as he showed me around the city…”

Having founded the Nine8 Collective, Lava La Rue takes inspiration from Erykah Badu, and spits over beats that could be fitting for Rejjie Snow too.
