Watch: Ultimate Painting - "Riverside"
Best Fit favourites Ultimate Painting return with new video for "Riverside", the latest cut from their forthcoming debut.
The former Veronica Falls and Mazes members first wowed us with self-titled mission statement "Ultimate Painting", and this latest bit has us chomping for more. "Riverside" is reminiscent of the unforgettable sounds of The Animals and The Zombies by way of the laid-back, lo-fi panache that's becoming the duo's signature sound. Those retro vibes are perfectly captured by the accompanying video, which features home video of a young boy having an unforgettable day with his (also young) father. Director Elizabeth Skadden says:
"I was inspired by the theme of autonomy within the song to create this piece featuring a small child testing his independence on a day out with his single father. Shot on discontinued super 8 film, the pair wake up and have a run around a cemetery before dad carries our protagonist back home. We see the son riding a park train all by himself in the organ break, foreshadowing his future autonomous self."
You can catch Ultimate Painting with White Fence tonight at the 100 Club in London or tomorrow at Sticky Mike's in Brighton before they embark on a North American tour. They'll be back in September for End of the Road.
Watch "Riverside" below, and enjoy that organ.
