Watch: The Unthanks - "Flutter" [Premiere]
Northumberland folk outfit The Unthanks are readying their first LP in a heckuva long time (called Mount The Air), but before that, we've got a new music video of theirs to show off.
"Flutter" is a sublime track, blending thick charcoal-smog textures, formed from strings and mellifluous keys, with the clarion eruption of Rachel Unthanks haunting vocals. Marrying visual and aural, the video mimicks this swirling atmoshere with production techniques: images overlay, blur and mask other images, the monochromatic tack embodies the desolation "Flutter" brandishes, and the shots of Unthank's stoic expression convey a sense of intensity.
Mount The Air is out 9 February via RabbleRouser Music, and it follows 2011's Last.
