Watch: Syron – “Colour Me In” [Ten Ven Remix]
London songstress Syron makes a return in the form of a remix by Ten Ven for “Colour Me In” , with new chop ‘n’ spliced visuals to match.
“Acute pop hypnotism” might be the best way to describe the images for Ten Ven’s reworking. The track itself – equal parts scattered discipline and refined structurelessness – is given a satisfyingly appropriate visual match via the use of a repeated pattern of images from the original video.
The result is a dizzying trance of Warholian repetition that somehow never bores. Of course, remix response amongst fans is often a very divided affair, however this reworking of the already solid “Colour Me In” – especially when consumed visually – provides an enlightening repurposing of its source material.
It’s enlightening enough, in fact, to render them both quite necessary indeed.
