Watch: Jeff Mangum perform at Coachella 2012

We really wanted to title of this post to be different. Sure, Jeff Mangum performing anywhere is great and all – but we really wanted to believe the rumours and schedule a ‘Neutral Milk Hotel reform at Coachella’ news article just in case.

Sadly, NMH didn’t reunite but luckily what did happen was that someone with a rather expensive camera caught the acoustic rendition of ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea’ on film. Hurrah! I guess our wounds aren’t feeling so tender after all.

Jeff Mangum played the Saturday leg of the festival, rummaging through takes from his former band’s 1998 classic album and more.

And because it’s a Tuesday, we decided to treat you to a few more clips. Admittedly pretty shoddily shot, they show if nothing else the kind of audience devotion Mangum still evokes.
