Watch: Dan Mangan + Blacksmith – "Mouthpiece"
Earlier this year, the Vancouver-based Dan Mangan cemented his connection to a number of his longtime band members and collaborators through the release of Club Meds under the moniker Dan Mangan + Blacksmith. The freshly unified act helped Mangan shed some of his folk-leanings in favour of more straightforward, scathing guitar rock.
"Mouthpiece" epitomises Mangan’s transformation. In the newly released video for the track we get, quite literally, an intimate look at the band as they stand. While a performance clip is usually a safe (read: dull) approach, Mangan and his band make for an anarchic vision. Extreme close-ups yield to wider shots, which literally pulsate with the intensity of the song.
If you’re hankering for a taste of Mangan and Blacksmith in the flesh, check out their upcoming UK tour dates after the clip below.
