Watch: CuckooLander - "What's Out There" [Premiere]
CuckooLander is a special one, and with amazing hair like X-Men’s Rogue, she has taken extraordinary steps in the past few weeks. With quite a big amount of bravery she decided to leave her safe, steady role as one Charli XCX’s band members and instead undertake the challenge of her own, personal project.
Her resourcefulness translates in her homonymous debut EP, an exemplifying triad of CuckooLander’s multifarious creative flair. Coarse, amplified rock instrumentation goes hand in hand with synths delivered with prim pop aesthetics, as can be heard on her latest single “What’s Out There”.
The video for this bass-slapping tune premieres here on Best Fit. Fitting perfectly with the track, with the grumbling verse chasing after the dreamy chorus, the visuals of dark and sharp in-studio portrait shots alternate to the visuals of desolate open landscapes and breezy beach and sea surmounted by multicolored kites. The pastel orange letterboxing and CuckooLander’s own stricken-through double-OO logo opening and closing the video simply add visual clues to this twisted pop star in the making.
"What's Out There" is taken from CuckooLander's self-titled debut EP, due out October 12.
