Watch: Chastity Belt - "Cool Slut"
Seattle four-piece Chastity Belt celebrate album release with soaring anti-slut-shaming anthem, "Cool Slut".
The soporific melodies of "Cool Slut" quickly build momentum as fervent vocals hammer their point home. "It’s okay to be slutty!", their mantra, resounds through the chorus; it's a do-what-the-hell-you-want refrain from a band who are doing just that. Hazy vocals and potent lyrics counteract and combine to craft a track that's both laid-back and forward-thinking.
The video presents a retro kitsch look at the band themselves. Playing guitar in a park, smelling flowers, rollerblading in the street, and goofing around in the sun, the clip's happy-go-lucky naïveté is the perfect counterpart to the track's straight-talking message of empowerment.
