Wolf Alice-backed Surrey teens Vinyl Staircase air mature cut "Halcyon" [Premiere]
Hotly tipped by Wolf Alice's Joel Amey as embodying the sound of "pure youthful euphoria", Dorking four-piece Vinyl Staircase have quickly gained themselves a reputation before even having left college.
Toying with mythical themes, the four-piece's sound is tinted golden with lyrical grandeur. Where "Halcyon" may be able to charm the winds and waters to calm, the Surrey youngsters charm listeners with their psych-pop melodies and harmonious vocal exchanges.
Though at many points serene and blissful, Vinyl Staircase's euphoric sound is by no means lacking in a heady dose of acerbic noise. Erupting from a somewhat tranquil state is a hurricane of fuzzed-out guitars that duck and dive beneath the surface.
Mature beyond their years, Vinyl Staircase have already cemented their style: "Our latest work is far more honed than previous material, we've let our work develop organically to foster our own sound".
