Production duo Vargas & Lagola launch themselves with party-house banger "Rolling Stone"
Stockholm's Vargas & Lagola might technically be a new name f or you, but this duo have had a big hand in some mighty pop songs over the past few years. Now it's their turn for the spotlight.
Between them, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare have written or produced tracks for David Guetta, Avicii, Seinabo Sey, Miike Snow, Madonna, Katy Perry and Swedish House Mafia. It's an impressive roll call of talent, and on "Rolling Stone" they cherry-pick from each to create their own party anthem.
The track is perhaps most similar to Galantis and Swedish House Mafia in that it relies on an insistent, throbbing house groove. From that starting point, the duo adds finger-clicks, soulful vocals and a soaring brass-laden chorus full of wordless euphoric whooping. Stupidly addictive, this could be one of the biggest dance pop tracks of 2017.
