Tyler Burkhart's "Waiting for you" encapsulates his melancholic mindfulness
Pennsylvania's DIY singer/songwriter Tyler Burkhart wraps his wistful reflections in mellow melodies on tender track "Waiting for you".
The self-proclaimed musician builds "Waiting for you" on a layer of lulling acoustic guitars and gentle vocals that are reminiscent of Alex G and early Elliott Smith.
Burkhart's narrative lyrics depict a sense of yearning, yet encapsulate a beautiful tenderness delivered with such simplicity.
"I wrote this song thinking about a few different things that might motivate a person," Burkhart explains. "Manipulation, aggression, and substance use. Those might be perceived as negative things, but I think the song has a hopeful bent to it. At the end of the day, everyone is just hoping for something."
The sparse instrumentals highlight his adept storytelling, projecting his mellow melancholy with undisputable charm.
