Troye Sivan's lil bro and YouTube star Tide Levi is a pop star now
Tyde Levi made his name as social media star (300k on insta, 485k on YouTube) and says his debut track "Goldchains" is about "raw lust". He's also Troye Sivan's little brother.
As pop beginnings go, this couldn't be a more 2018 way to start but there are more prepostorous origin stories out there (hiya Bhad Bhabie). While slow jam" Goldchains" might be lacking the punch of a big chorus, it's got a canny sort of swagger about it that recalls Zayn (in a good way) and delivers a bit more BDSM than your average New Music Friday tends to. It's even got horns via members of The Roots!
Levi's inspired by Frank Ocean and SZA - no mention of brother Troye - and the vocal's more effortless than it is overly polished which is a good start.
“It’s love with no boundaries," Levi says of the song. "It’s that one person you just can’t get enough of and they can’t get enough of you."
