Twin Wave reveal “Matador”, the glistening first taste of their forthcoming Pour Out The Dark EP
Twin Wave have revealed a glistening first taste of their forthcoming Pour Out The Dark EP; a brilliantly contagious statement of intent that lodges effortlessly between the ears.
With touches of disco, thanks to a funk-tinged bass-line and some sparkling, underlying synth work, “Matador” shows-off the Brooklyn psych trio’s knack for wonderfully moreish art-pop that recalls the likes of Geographer, Young The Giant and even the accessible cool of The 1975.
Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s bullfighting-as-art passages in The Sun Also Rises, a warm, honeyed vocal leads the way towards the shimmering, earworm chorus and a drum-rolling bridge that winds-up in the song’s moment of tension, before sweet, sunny relief is restored.
Twin Wave are poised to win over the hearts of Brooklyn and beyond thanks to their beautifully breezy brand of dreamy pop. Don’t fight it, get in the ring with “Matador” below.
