Tungz's "Can't We Just Be Friends Again" is a funk-pop tale of reconciliation
Heist Or Hit's Tungz are back with their passionate and funky new single "Can't We Just Be Friends Again".
"Can't We Just Be Friends Again" is the London-via-Bristol group's first offering since releasing their 2019 EP Okay.
Opening with a nostalgic crash of drums and warbling, wavy synths, Tungz's new single weaves through vibrant funk-pop melodies while vocalist Jamie tries to passionately put across their want for reconciliation.
The tropical chopped beat crashes like waves against a rocky shore, while the pulsating '70s synths erupt in colourful melodies, providing a funky foundation for the intense vocals.
The band say of the new track, "In a previous song, Jamie said, 'Maybe sometimes we should [fight]'. In this song he's like 'Actually no'. It's about two people who've never really started an argument trying to end one. This track feels like a statement to us. But it's also a question. That's why we left off the question mark. We went heavy on the production - it's gonna be a nightmare to work out how to play it live."
